Introduction

National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) 2020 is a National Level scholarship test Organized Once in a year for Class X students, conducted by NCERT. The NTSE Examination will be held in two stages, Stage I (State Level Talent Search), conducted by SCERTs while NCERT conducts the Stage II (National Level Talent Search). NTSE 2020 Stage I entrance test is scheduled for 2, 3 & 17 November 2019. The Stage II exam will be held on 10 May 2020 in Offline Mode. Based on student’s scores in Mental Ability Test, Scholastic Aptitude Test, and Interview, the NTSE scholarships will be distributed.   • States and Union Territories may notify the fee required which will be paid for the Stage-I examination.

 

  • Therefore, before submitting the application form, you may find out the fees charged for Stage-I Examination and also the mode of payment from the respective State Liaison Officers (LOS)
Stage - II
  • NCERT does not charge any fee for Stage-II examination.

Eligibility

NTSE 2020 Eligibility Criteria
  • All students of Class X studying in recognized schools are eligible to appear for the Stage-I examination, conducted by the States/ UT's, in which the schools are located, Will be no domicile restriction.

 

  • Students registered under Open Distance Learning (ODL) will also be eligible for a scholarship, provided the student is below the age of 18 years (as on 1st July of the particular year), the student is not employed and s/he is appearing in class X examination for the first time.
  • Indian Students Studying Abroad in Class X can appear directly for Stage II NTS Examination under conditions prescribed in the brochure.

 

  • Announcement for students of Indian nationality studying abroad will be announced separately.

  • Application Form: You may contact the State/UT Liaison officer for procuring application form.

 

  • The completed application form should be signed by the Principal of the school much before the last date of submission.

 

  • Candidate, as well as the Principal of the school, must adhere to the last date for submission of the Application Form.

 

  • Different states may have different last dates for submission.

 

  • Please confirm from the Liaison Officer of your state, the address at which the completed forms are to be submitted.

 

  • The addresses and contact number of the Liaison Officer of the States/UTs are available (State-wise) in the NCERT website www.ncert.nic.in.

 

  • All queries related to application form should be directed to the State Liaison Officers (LOs).

  • No application should be sent to NCERT.

 

  • Indian Nationality Candidates studying abroad may fill up the Application Form, available on the NCERT website and send to the undersigned along with a photocopy of the mark sheet of the previous examination, latest by 31 December 2019.

 

  • Application Form for students studying abroad will be uploaded on the NCERT website in the month of October 2019.

Scholarships: About two thousand scholarships are awarded for different stages of education as follows:

 

  • (a) Scholarship of Rs. 1250/- per month for Class-XI to XII.

 

  • (b) Scholarship of Rs. 2000/- per month for Under-graduates and Post-graduates.

 

  • (c) Amount of Scholarship for PhD is fixed in accordance with the UGC norms.

  • Generally, the candidate belonging to a particular state shall be allotted the centre in the same state.

 

  • Normally, there is only one centre in each state for the National Level Examination.

Syllabus

  • There is no prescribed syllabus for the NTS examination.

 

  • However, the standard of items shall be conforming to the level of Classes IX and X.

 

  • A separate booklet called ‘Learn about the Test’ containing sample items for both the Tests - MAT and SAT is available in print as well as on the NCERT website www.ncert.nic.in.

Acceptable ID’s include (must be original, valid and nonexpired)–Driving License, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, Aadhar card, etc.

 

Note: Candidates should not bring any material with them except the Hall Ticket, Black/ Blue Ball Point Pen.

 

Use of calculators, log tables and slide ruler, watches with facilities of calculator, and cellular phones are strictly prohibited for the test.

The Candidates must keep in mind that they should take some Valid ID proof with them along with Admit card. Applicants are requested to be present at the Test Venue at least 30 minutes before the time of commencement of the Exam.

Candidates are also requested to check the instructions before they attend the entrance exam.

No candidate is allowed to carry any baggage inside the examination hall.
The candidates must sign on the Attendance Sheet at the appropriate place. Candidates are not allowed to carry any textual material in printed or written form and things like log tables, formula book, mobile phone, pager, programmable calculators inside the exam hall.
Candidates are requested to take care of their own things like materials, purses, gold etc., and should be self- responsible for their things.

Candidate should not do any kind of Malpractice while the exam for which he/she shall be debarred.

Approach the hall invigilator in the room for any technical assistance, first aid emergency or any other information during the course of the examination. Candidate should not leave the examination hall before the completion of the exam.

Procedure to check the Result

Step 1: Visit the Official Website of Board of Secondary Education of particular State.

 

Step 2: Candidate should Navigate NTSE & Select NTSE 2020.

 

Step 3: Enter Registered Email-Id, Mobile Number, Hall Ticket Number and Click on Search.

 

Step 4: The online Score-Card for NTSE 2020 will appear on the screen.

 

Step 5: Download it for further use.

Stage II Exam Result Date

Candidate Test Results for Stage II will be available in the NTSE 2020 official website from September 2020 (Tentatively).

Selection:

  • Stage-I, the selection will be done by States/ UT's and those who are selected/ recommended from Stage-I examination will be eligible to appear for Stage-II examination, conducted by NCERT.

 

  • Only candidates qualifying in both the papers separately will be considered for merit.

 

  • Selection of the awardees will be made on the basis of total marks scored in MAT & SAT based on merit.
