It is conducted annually by the IIMs on a rotational basis. Educational Qualification
  • The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to  (SC), (ST) and (PWD) categories], awarded by any University or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

     

  • Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply.

 

Eligibility Requirements

Completed Bachelor’s degree with the required percentage of marks.

Completed a professional degree (CA/CS/ICWA) with the required percentage.

Should be in the final year of Bachelor’s degree with the required percentage.

Note: Applicants should note that the mere fulfilment of minimum eligibility criteria will not ensure consideration for short-listing by IIMs.

Steps to fill-Up Online Application Form:

 

  • Visit the official website of CAT 2019.

 

  • Click on 'Registered Candidates Login' for already Registered candidates and 'New Candidates Registration' for New Registration.

 

  • Applicants will be redirected to a new login page.

 

  • Applicants are allowed to register and create a password by activating the link sent to the Mail Id Registered.

 

  • Candidates will have an option to fill the form and complete the processes entirely and save the form.

 

  • Candidates have to select any four Test Cities as per their preference from the drop-down menu mentioned in the website.

 

  • Applicants will have to upload their Photograph, signature saving the details.

 

  • After uploading these documents, click on the "Submit" button.

 

  • Mode of Payment: Candidates can pay the fee online using Credit/ Debit card, Net Banking and Cash Card & Wallet.

 

  • Save the receipt of the online transaction as proof of payment.

 

  • After Payment, Take a print out of the application form and preserve for future reference.

Don'ts

Before leaving for the Test Centre, Candidates are requested to verify and carry their original ID proof and the printed CAT 2019 Admit card. Avoid attempting to appear for CAT 2019 Exam more than once. Candidature will be cancelled if a candidate is found to appear for the test multiple times.
Ensure to affix the Photograph, as required, in the space provided on the Admit Card before handing over for verification at the Test Centre. Affix the same photograph which was uploaded during the application process. Do not request entry to the Test Centre post 08:45 a.m. for the Forenoon Session and post 02:15 p.m. for the Afternoon Session.
Report at the Test centre at 07:30 a.m. IST for the Forenoon Session and at 01:00 p.m. IST for the Afternoon Session. Do not carry any prohibited item such as electronic gadgets etc. inside the Exam Lab. Do not use Mobile phones, Electronic Gadgets, Watches, Calculators, own Stationery items, Wallets, and/or goggles.
Deposit all personal belongings such as mobile phone, bag, wallets, Jackets, Jewellery, watch, electronic gadgets, stationery items, etc. at the Test Centre Entrance Gate. Do not involve yourself in any arguments with other Candidates or Test centre staff.
Cooperate with Test centre staff during document Verification and Frisking. Do not attempt to cheat or copy answers from others during the Exam. Do not disturb other Candidates.
Ask for any help only from Test Centre Invigilator during the exam. Do not request for a bio-break while inside the Exam Lab unless it is a Medical emergency.
Provide your attendance in the Form with a signature when asked for in the Exam Lab. Do not request for change of Test Centre/Exam Lab/Console on the Exam Day.
Post the Exam, hand over Admit Card duly signed to Invigilator present in the Exam Lab. Do not wear any jewellery (or any item(s) of or containing metal), Jackets and Footwear inside the Exam Lab.

What is the Conducting Body for CAT 2019?

It is by conducted by Indian Institute of Management (IIM) annually. 

I have completed a 5-year dual degree course              (BTech+MTech, BS+MS, BTech+MSc etc.)?

How do I enter my marks for a bachelor degree?

As per your university norms, you must enter the aggregate of marks that are equivalent to Bachelors’ Degree under the Bachelor’s Degree section and the equivalent Marks for the Masters’ degree under the Master Degree section.

I have changed my name with the due procedure after completing my degree.

Should I enter my name as per the degree certificate or the changed name?

You must enter your changed name and provide the supporting documents for change of name at the time of examination, interview, and admission.
What should I do if I have not received the password or have lost the SMS?
If you have not received the password or have lost the SMS, click the Forgot Password option on the Existing User login page. You will be prompted to enter a Captcha string. The new password will be sent to your registered email address.

 Is there any age restriction for taking the CAT exam? No, there is no age restriction for taking the CAT exam.

I have completed my Bachelor’s Degree. Do I need to submit the overall percentage of marks or as per my University standards?

As per CAT 2019 eligibility criteria, you must submit the percentage according to your university norms.
I am not pursuing or completed my Bachelor’s degree or any Professional degree like CA/CS/ICWA etc., Am I eligible to appear for CAT 2019? As you are not appearing/ completed any Bachelor Degree or not completed any Professional degree like CA/CS/ICWA etc., you are not eligible to appear for CAT 2019.
 I have completed my Bachelor’s degree in May-June   2019 but have backlogs, am I eligible to apply for CAT   2019? Yes, as per the CAT 2019 eligibility norms, candidates who are completing their degree by May 2019 are eligible to appear for CAT. However, the candidate should select Yes to the question “Are you in the final year of Bachelor Degree”. 
Can I appear for more than one slot for CAT 2019?
You cannot appear for more than one slot. It will be deemed as a fraudulent activity if you attempt to appear more than once for CAT 2019.

What is the fee for the CAT exam? The fee is Rs. 1900 for General and NC-OBC Candidates. However, if you belong to the SC/ST/PWD category, the applicable fee is Rs. 950
Where can I pay the CAT exam fee? You can pay the CAT exam fee during online registration. The payment of application fee should be done payment gateway. Use a valid credit card, debit card, or net banking facility.
When and how do I register for CAT 2019? Instructions for online registration and the application process are available in the Registration Guide and Registration video published on the website.
Can I use my coaching institute’s or a friend’s email address when registering for CAT? No. You must provide a valid and unique email address. All correspondence pertaining to CAT 2019, information will be communicated to the registered email address.
In case the website does not work and I am unable to complete my application, what should I do? If the registration website is not accessible for any reason, please close the Internet browser (delete browsing history, cache & cookies of the web browser) and try again.

 If I do not get my Admit Card, whom should I contact? The Admit Card needs to be directly printed from the CAT 2019 website. If you are unable to view your Admit Card after logging in, contact the CAT Helpdesk given in above Notification section.
Will the CAT 2019 Admit Card be sent to me as a hard copy or by mail?
The Admit card of CAT 2018 will be available on the CAT website only. You must log in using your CAT 2019 User ID to view/print the Admit card.
Is there a specific order for answering sections? Can I attempt sections the way I want?
You must answer the sections in a pre-specified order and this order will remain the same for all test takers
Does CAT 2019 have a syllabus for exam preparation? No, the CAT exam does not have a defined syllabus for CAT preparation. However, you can attempt the mock test to understand the pattern of exam and types of questions.
Where can I select my preference of shift and test date?
The exam shift (forenoon or afternoon) is allocated for each registered candidate based on the city preference made at the time of application. A candidate cannot select the shift.

A candidate must take the exam on a workstation assigned at the exam venue based on the city selected while registering for CAT. The venue details are printed on the Admit Card.

What will be the time extension given to a PWD candidate? PWD candidates with or without Scribe requirement will be given a time extension of 20 minutes per section, which comes to a total extension of one hour for the full test.
