Introduction

CEED 2020 (Common Entrance Examination for Design) is a national level exam, conducted annually for admissions into the postgraduate programmes of design at premier institutes of the country. CEED 2020 will be conducted by Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IITB)

 

CEED 2020 Entrance Exam will be held on 18th January 2020. CEED 2020 Application Form will be available from 9th October 2020 (Tentative) till 9th November 2020 on the Official Website. Check out the CEED 2020 Eligibility, Application form, Exam Pattern etc in the below article.

CEED 2020 Age Limit

There is no age limit to appear for CEED. Besides, a candidate can appear for CEED any number of times.

CEED 2020 Eligibility
  • Candidates must have completed a degree/ diploma/ postgraduate degree programme of minimum 3 years (after 10+2 level), or must be appearing for the final examination of such a program by July 2020, or must have passed the GD Arts diploma programme (10+5 level) by July 2019. Before applying for CEED, candidates are advised to check whether they meet the required eligibility criteria for admission to various institutes.

• ₹ 1,300 for all women candidates

• ₹ 1,300 for (SC / ST / PwD) candidates

• ₹ 2,600 for all other candidates

Instructions to fill the Online Registration Form:

 

  • The File containing your recent colour photograph (.jpg file).
  • Scanned copy of your signature (.jpg file).
  • Scanned copy of your degree /diploma certificate (.pdf file) if the course is completed. If you do not have the final degree certificate, please upload the copy of the final year mark list or the provisional certificate. If the course is not completed,   a certificate from the Principal of the college  / Head of the department (.pdf file).
  • Candidates who are applying in the SC/ ST/ OBC-NCL category have to produce valid category certificates (.pdf file) issued by appropriate authorities. Format of the OBC- NCL certificate. OBC-NCL certificates issued ONLY from April 1, 2018, onwards are Format of the SC/ ST certificates.
  • Candidates who are applying in person with physical disability (PwD) category should produce a valid medical certificate (.pdf file) issued by the appropriate authority (see Appendixes 4 to 7). Dyslexic candidates are required to additionally obtain a certificate from the Principal/ Head of the College/ Institution.
  • PwD candidate requiring compensatory time during the exam need to upload a request letter.
  • Candidates whose name is not the same as the name on the degree diploma certificate should produce a gazette notification, a marriage certificate or scanned pages of the passport showing the change of name (.pdf file).

CEED 2020 – Admit Card

  • Admit cards will be available for downloading from the CEED website from 01st January 2020.

 

  • Please take a clear printout (in colour) of the admit card before coming to the examination centre.

 

  • Last date for rectification of discrepancies in the admit card is 05th January 2020.

How to download the CEED Admit card 2020?

 

  • Visit the Official Website

 

  • Click on the CEED Admit Card link.

 

  • Enter the Application Form Number and Date of Birth.

 

  • Click on the Submit button.

 

  • Admit Card will display on the screen.

 

  • Check your Hall Ticket Number, exam date, time, venue, etc.

 

  • Take a print of the Admit Card of CEED Exam 2020.

Syllabus

CEED 2020 - Syllabus (Part - A)

CEED 2020 will be in two parts. Part A will have questions related to these topics:


Visualization and spatial ability: Pictorial and diagrammatic questions to test the understanding of transformation and / or manipulation of 2D shapes and 3D objects and their spatial relationships.


Environmental and social awareness: General awareness of environmental factors such as climate, population, water, vegetation, pollution, weather, natural resources etc., and their implications on the design of products, images, infrastructure and
environment.

Awareness of design terminologies, social and cultural connection with design, history of the designed artefact, and socially responsible and environmentally sustainable design responses. History of art, sculpture and literature.


Analytical and logical reasoning: Ability to analyse given information logically and select the most appropriate solutions. Ability to weigh opinions, arguments or solutions against appropriate criteria. Ability to use logic and structured thinking to deduce from a short passage, which of a number of statements is the most accurate response to a posed question.


Language and creativity: Ability to understand passages in commonly used English language. Ability to think creatively in terms of alternatives, ability to distinguish innovative options and think out of the box.


Design thinking and problem solving: Ability to understand the context, the users and the constraints and select the most appropriate solution for a given design problem.


Observation and design sensitivity: Ability to detect concealed properties in day to day life and think critically about them. Ability to discern subtle differences in visual properties and aesthetic outcomes.

CEED 2020 - Syllabus (Part - B)

CEED 2020 will be in two parts. Part B of CEED 2020 will have questions related to these topics:


Drawing: Ability to draw products, people or scenes in proportion with good line quality, composition, proportion, perspective, and shading.


Creativity: Ability to think out of the box and come up with unique as well as diverse solutions.


Communication skills: Ability to communicate concepts and ideas clearly with the help of text and visuals.


Problem identification skills: Ability to understand the user and the context, knowledge of properties of materials and their appropriate use in design, etc.

 

Note: CEED 2020 is an aptitude test and hence no specific text book or guide is recommended for its preparation.

The candidates may however practice their drawing, rendering and visualization skills.

CEED 2020 - Exam Day Instructions

CEED 2020 - Exam Day Instructions :

 

Students must follow the below instructions carefully while appearing for the examination:

 

  • Reporting time: Candidates should report at the examination centre at 8:00 hours on 18 January 2020 along with a colour printout of the admit card. This is required to record the biometric information (thumb impression and photograph) before appearing for the examination. Examination Time: 10.00 – 13.00 hrs.

 

  • Identity proof: The candidate should bring a valid photo identity proof (original) along with the admit card to the examination centre. Candidates will not be admitted to the examination centre without a proper identity proof (college issued identity card, passport, driving license, PAN card, Voter ID or Aadhaar card).

 

  • Stationery: Candidates must bring their own pencils, sketch pens, poster colours and other drawing materials for the examination. Candidates should not bring drawing sheets to the examination hall.

 

  • Electronic gadgets such as mobile phones, calculators, smart or digital watches etc. are NOT allowed in the examination hall. Use of any electronic gadget will disqualify the candidate.

 

  • The seating arrangement will be displayed on the notice board of the examination centre.

CEED Result will be displayed on the CEED website on 04th March 2020.(www.ceed.iitb.ac.in).


The CEED 2020 scorecard is valid for a period of one year from the date of declaration of the result.

 

The CEED 2019 scorecard cannot be treated as a proof of date of birth, category or disability status.

  • Enter the Registration Number and Date of Birth.

 

  • Click on View Result.

 

  • Take a print out for future use.

Counselling

CEED 2020 - Counselling

CEED 2019 counselling process is conducted only after the CEED result declaration. Those who qualify the CEED exam will be shortlisted for counselling and can check their counselling dates on the official portal of CEED 2020.

 

It is necessary for every candidate to take their original and photocopies of mandatory documents such as CEED scorecard, CEED Admit Card and certificates at the time of counselling. If any candidate fails to carry the required documents and certificates for counselling, they will not be considered eligible for admission. 

 

Counselling of CEED 2020 will involve the following:

 

  • Design Aptitude Test Screening

 

  • Personal interview

 

Design Aptitude Test Screening:

 

After qualifying the CEED 2019, shortlisted candidates will have to appear for Design Aptitude Test Screening.

 

Personal interview:

 

After qualifying in Design Aptitude Test Screening, candidates will have to participate in a personal interview round. After clearing all the formalities, candidates will then be selected for their desired course and institutes.

  • Original and a copy of the CEED Admit Card.

 

  • A copy of the bank draft as per the guidelines provided in the CEED prospectus.

 

  • All the original documents and the photocopy of the documents. Two copies of the class 10th and 12th certificate.

 

  • Rank card/ hall ticket.

 

  • CEED Scorecard

 

  • Original /provisional copy of the degree.

 

  • Reservation certificate for SC/T/OBC candidates.

No, there is no provision for sending the CEED to admit card by post. CEED admit card will be available online, and candidates will have to download and take a print copy of their CEED hall ticket.

Is it mandatory to have a coloured print out of the CEED admit card?

Yes, candidates should take a coloured print out of their CEED admit card and carry the same to the exam centre.

What should I do if there is a mistake in my CEED admit card?

In case a candidate finds any discrepancy/error in the CEED admit card, then the same must be immediately informed to the admission/exam authorities.
